Moisture-curable urethane coatings cross-link by reaction of isocyanates resins with water present in the air. Those are 1K formulations that can cure at low temperatues and at high humidity, while classic epoxy coatings can not be used at such atmospheric conditions. The use of MCU primers and intermediate coats in coating systems for exterior surfaces gives outstanding performance. 2K topcots are less sensitive to application condistions and at lower cost are often the products of choice for the last coat in PU heavy-duty systems.
